Organo's Research and Development Lab: Creating the Future, Today
Organo's lab is at the forefront of separation and purification technologies for water and beyond. We work to solve challenges facing society and industry while taking on the challenge of creating new value.

The Role of R&D and Technological Development

To bring the new technologies and new products that customers and society need to market, we develop technologies that anticipate future needs—including further improving the purity of ultrapure water, making more effective use of functional materials such as water treatment chemicals and membranes, developing IoT-enabling plants, and applying separation and purification technologies beyond water. Our product site shares useful information, from articles about water to technical resources for researchers.
R&D and Technological Development Locations

Engineering Center
Water Treatment Engineering Specialists
This site is home to a team of engineers with deep expertise across various fields of separation and purification technology. By applying the optimization technologies and functional materials in which the Organo Group specializes to a wide range of liquid separation and purification applications—including water, solvents, and chemicals—we help deliver consistent product quality and improved yields.

R&D Center
Connecting Technology, Information, and People through Mastery of Separation, Purification, and Advanced Analysis
As our central hub for technology development, the R&D Center hones our core separation and purification technologies and advanced analytical capabilities, and develops sustainable next-generation water treatment systems. We are also expanding our research functions and external co-creation efforts to drive innovation that contributes to society's future.
Manufacturing Sites

Tsukuba Factory
One of the World's Largest Ion Exchange Resin Refining Facilities
The quality grade required of ion exchange resins varies depending on their intended use. Resins of extremely high quality are used in settings such as semiconductor manufacturing plants and power plants. At our Tsukuba Factory, we condition ion exchange resins using equipment built with the latest technologies, and we also regenerate previously used resins.

Iwaki Factory
Water Treatment System Module Assembly Plant
At the Iwaki Factory, we standardize the equipment modules that make up large‑scale water treatment plants within transportable dimensions and ship them as assembled products. Assembling the modules at the factory improves and stabilizes product quality. It also simplifies on‑site assembly work, enabling shorter construction periods and lower costs. In addition, the Iwaki Factory manufactures EDI (electrodeionization) systems.

HOSTEC
Small and Medium Water Treatment System Manufacturing Plant
HOSTEC is a joint venture with OGIHARA MFG CO., LTD., a partner since our founding. The company manufactures small and medium water treatment systems, combining advanced ultrapure water technology with the ability to design and manufacture compact equipment. This enables a stable supply of equipment capable of producing the "single drops of ultrapure water" needed by healthcare and research institutions. By delivering products that meet a wide range of needs, HOSTEC supports the future of water treatment through proven technology and quality.
Innovation/Research and Development Examples

vol.01
Advanced Separation and Purification of Non-Aqueous Solutions
We have developed ion exchange resin products to meet purification needs for liquids other than water, such as the chemical solutions and solvents used in semiconductor cleaning and drying processes. For example, we reduce moisture content and eliminate impurities such as metal ions that cause corrosion in organic materials (such as photoresists and solvents) and inorganic materials (such as CMP materials and hydrogen peroxide), which helps to improve yield. As the semiconductor industry continues to grow, our products are attracting attention as an increasingly crucial technology.
vol.02
Water Treatment System Anomaly Prediction
Through an industry-academia partnership with Osaka University, Organo has developed a method for accurately predicting anomalies from sensor data, addressing the challenge of water quality exceeding standards due to seasonal changes and the aging of water treatment and ultrapure water systems. The technology automatically identifies patterns in variable factors and switches prediction models based on operating conditions. Validation against real-world data has shown accuracy that exceeds the latest deep learning models, helping reduce monitoring workload, prevent incidents, and lower maintenance costs.
vol.03
Lithium-Ion Battery Solvent Recovery
We have developed equipment to recover N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP), a solvent used in large quantities during the production of cathode materials for the rechargeable lithium-ion batteries found in products such as electric vehicles. While distillation has traditionally been the primary method—and is highly energy-intensive—our membrane separation method reduces costs to one-seventh and cuts lifecycle CO₂ emissions by approximately 75%, supporting resource and energy conservation. Our process refines NMP to reusable quality more efficiently and cost-effectively than conventional equipment.
