Water Resources Conservation and Effective Use/Protecting BiodiversityWater Resources Conservation and Effective Use/Protecting Biodiversity
Basic Concept
Water is the source of life. It circulates around the Earth, nurturing a variety of plants and animals. Protecting our water is protecting life. At Organo, we have technology to protect water.
By managing the water used by the Group and providing our customers with technology to protect this precious resource, we are promoting the sustainable use of water resources and contributing to protecting biodiversity.
Management of the water we use
In recent years, the use and conservation of water resources have increasingly attracted attention as a global sustainability issue. Organo views water resource depletion, river overflowing, and water quality contamination as risks that may affect our corporate activities.
To support the sustainable use of water resources in the areas around our offices, Organo works to conserve water resources through the effective use of intake water and the maintenance and improvement of wastewater quality.
We also promote initiatives for recovering and reusing the water we use, in order to make the best use of our precious and limited water resources. More specifically, in addition to introducing water treatment and recovery facilities at our Tsukuba Factory and R & D Center locations, we have set water recovery and reuse rate targets (50% at Tsukuba Factory and 20% at R & D Center) and are engaged in efforts to reduce the amount of water we use.
We will continue to strive to play a role in environmental conservation through our business activities while closely monitoring water risks.

CDP Water Security A List
In 2025, the Organo Group was added to the CDP Water Security A List.
Operated by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an environment-related nonprofit organization, "CDP Water Security" is an international information disclosure program for company water risks. CDP requests companies to disclose information on their usage of water resources, water-related risks such as water shortages and contamination, and the states of their management systems by submitting Q&A forms. It then analyzes the responses and ranks the initiatives of each company on an eight-tier scale from A to D- (minus). Only the top 4% of companies evaluated by CDP are included in the A List.
The Organo Group began participating in the CDP Water Security program in 2024, and in 2025 was added to the prestigious A List. Rather than resting on this achievement, we will continue to strive to reduce the amount of water we use and manage our water risks, while working together with our stakeholders in contributing toward water environment conservation.

Water treatment technology provided to customers: Protecting Biodiversity
With global warming accelerating and water shortages becoming more severe, companies are now required to manage their own water risks and engage in business activities that take biodiversity into consideration.
As a comprehensive water treatment engineering company, Organo provides water treatment products and services to customers in a wide variety of industries. Organo's water purification and recovery technologies play a crucial role in various industries, and we contribute toward conserving biodiversity and reducing the impact on water environments near our customers' offices by providing products and services.
The Organo Group has defined "addressing water resource challenges" and "biodiversity conservation" as material issues. In order to measure our progress in achieving these initiatives, we have set two KPIs: the volume of wastewater treated using equipment newly delivered by Organo to customers and then discharged from facilities such as factories, and the volume of water recovered and reused using equipment newly delivered by Organo to our customers.
By providing wastewater treatment and wastewater recovery and reuse technologies, we aim to support sustainable water resource activities in our customers' businesses and in local communities. In this way, we seek to contribute to reducing regional water risks while conserving biodiversity.
Our water treatment engineering business can achieve both business growth and sustainability, and we will leverage the characteristics of this business and work together with our stakeholders in contributing toward the conservation of the water environment and biodiversity.

Support Activities Related to the Development of Water Environment Conservation Technology
Organo Awards to Support Young Researchers in China
Awareness of the environment has been growing in China over the past few years as the country has undergone industrial growth, and the Chinese government is now promoting policies related to water environment conservation. In fiscal year 2007, Organo established the Organo Award scholarship system in collaboration with the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Suzhou Industrial Park, as a means of recognizing and supporting graduate students engaged in outstanding research in fields related to water quality and water environment conservation in China. This program invites graduate students residing in China to submit research proposals, selects outstanding researchers, and honors them; the recipients are currently making significant contributions to environmental conservation around the world.
Support for Studies of Young Researchers in Water Environment Field: Japan Society on Water Environment (JSWE)-ORGANO Doctoral Research Awards
This award was established to recognize and promote outstanding research in the water environment field by doctoral students and other young researchers, and to support the further advancement of research in this area. Organo endorses the objectives of this award and contributes financially to it. Past recipients are now actively working in the water environment field in Japan and around the world.
Certified as a "Water Cycle ACTIVE Company"
Organo is actively engaged in support activities related to water environment technology and training, as an initiative to "secure funds for research and development related to water environments." In fiscal year 2025, we were certified as a Water Cycle ACTIVE Company under "The Water Cycle Company Registration/Certification Program" operated by the Headquarters for Water Cycle Policy, Cabinet Secretariat, in recognition of our initiatives contributing toward water environments.
